EDIT: I've created a simple mouse script to go with this thought train, you can find the topic here:

Hello there again rpgmakerweb community,
You know what I find really interesting about RPG Maker MV? It was designed for use with either a computer with a game controller, or a touch pad mobile device.
I think the reason for this is because over in the developers native country of Japan PC gaming is considered niche, and consists mostly of just visual novels. The times when they port a big name PC game these days to computer usually take place when a big name rpg is being ported to Steam for international distribution.
Well, I'm creating a game that is exclusively for PC first and foremost, then maybe ported to other systems. I want it to use WASD movement with shift to run and clicking with the mouse to interact with characters, hud and menus, kind of like first person games have it.
So I'm putting the code below so you can have it in where your mouse coordinates are constantly updated.
I'm sure someone has come out with something like this already, but I couldn't find any information about it when searching through google.com many times, so I'm tagging this and trying to get this information out there to the people learning scripting for rpg maker.
Now you can use inside of your "Scene_MySceneName.prototype.update" function TouchInput.x and TouchInput.y properly for a mouse, which is necessary if you want to create a clickable hud, or you want to create some kind of complex "mouse has to click in this exact spot" or whatever script, or if you'd like to replace the mouse cursor with some image. Make sure the plugin is placed before your custom scene plugin.
License is for everyone obviously, because it's so little code. Someone should actually ellaborate on this and create a Mouse class or something...or maybe someone already has or already is, I don't know.
If you'd like to use this just copy the code as a reference, or just copy and paste it and save it as a .js file for use as a plugin.
Edit: Free for commercial use, modification or whatever, no credit necessary.
Code:
- /*: * @plugindesc Turns on updating of MouseX and MouseY coordinates (so you can use * TouchInput.x and TouchInput.y to check where the mouse is. * @author Astra Cat * @param Activate MouseX and Y Updating * @desc Turn on updating of MouseX and MouseY (when no clicked)? * @default true * @help Simple input settings plugin. */var parameter = PluginManager.parameters('AstraCat_MouseXandY');var EnableMouseCoords = String(parameters['Activate MouseX and Y Updating'] || 'true');if (EnableMouseCoords == 'true') { TouchInput._onMouseMove = function(event) { //if (this._mousePressed) { var x = Graphics.pageToCanvasX(event.pageX); var y = Graphics.pageToCanvasY(event.pageY); this._onMove(x, y); //} };}else if (EnableMouseCoords == 'false') { TouchInput._onMouseMove = function(event) { if (this._mousePressed) { var x = Graphics.pageToCanvasX(event.pageX); var y = Graphics.pageToCanvasY(event.pageY); this._onMove(x, y); } };}
