Video Playing Plugins

Greetings all.

Fulfilling a request from @XGuarden , I made a couple of title-screen adjacent video plugins for RMMZ, and then also ported them to RMMV. I did one of those Profile posts for each of them as I made them, but maybe a forum post will allow more people who are interested to actually see them.

The first plugin is TitleScreen Idle Movie Player and it does exactly what the name implies. If a player sits idle on the title screen for a configurable amount of time, a video will begin playing. Pressing a key, or clicking the mouse will immediately cancel the movie and return to the title screen as well. You can configure multiple movies to play, decide the order they play in, or if it should be random, and decide if in between multiple videos it shows the title screen again, or just goes right to the next video. Canceling a video during playback does not empty the video queue, so if there were videos remaining to be played, they will play before it repeats one that it's already played once. Unless you configure it to be completely random, that is.

The second plugin is Pre-Title Splash Videos, and it's also pretty straightforward in what it does. You can configure one or several splash screens, which show before the title screen in your project. These screens can be static images, which fade in, hang for a bit, then fade out, or videos, which play to completion. It shows each splash in order, until there are none left to show, then it goes to the title screen as normal. You can configure the wait in between splashes, the time the static images take to fade in and out, as well as the time they hang on the screen for. You can also configure what happens if an impatient player mashes the keyboard or the mouse buttons while the splashes are playing, allowing you to skip the current one, or all remaining splashes, or do nothing at all.

The terms of use for both plugins are the same:

• Free for commercial and non-commercial use, with credit to me, Ramza.
  
• Do not edit the header of this plugin, or claim sole ownership of it.
  
• Editing the plugin to add new features, or fix compatibility problems is allowed.
  
• Redistributing this plugin is also allowed.
