    Introduction:
I have been documenting and updating my previous posts with my findings in hope of sharing the knowledge so that future users who may hit the same roadblocks as myself are able to overcome them easier.
    My previous tutorials:
How to add options that control switches or variables into YEP Option Core
How to hide/remove the lightmask temporarily from Terrax Lighting System
As with those previous threads, this was another roadblock I hit that I wanted to share so hopefully others may be able to resolve this issue quickly.

    What you need:
Most obviously you need Yanfly's Keyboard Config plugin, which is part of the free collection of plugins.
SpoilerBrief editorializing: If you are on MV (which is what this tutorial is for) and you plan on releasing a game, there are very few excuses to not use this plugin. It allows players to set the controls to what they are most comfortable with. Providing options to your player will rarely-if-ever harm you game, but will more-often-then-notbenefit your game. Use. This. Plugin. (or any alternative plugin that accomplishes the same thing)/editorializing over.

Secondly, you are going to need an IDE (code editor) to make this process more efficient. I recommend Notepad++.

    How:
The process is simple and should only take a minute or two to execute.
Open in the plugin in Notepad++ (in Windows, you might need to right-click "open with..." and select Notepad++)
    Locate line 613
    The line looks like this:
                    Code:
    return JSON.parse(JSON.stringify(ConfigManager.defaultMap));

Do you see where it says "ConfigManager.defaultMap"?
    Change this line to say:
    "ConfigManager.wasdMap"
For posterity, you should add a comment next to the changed line. Begin comments with //
Once you have typed these 2 slashes, the rest of the line will be a comment (code that will not be read). I would place in the comment field what the default value was, in case you need to change it back in the future.

And that's it! You're done! But if you're not sure why...then....

    Why:
By default, RPG Maker and YEP Keyboard Config control the game using arrow keys. The modern "norm" for game control has shifted away from arrow keys and now uses WASD for movement. Most modern gamers are more comfortable using their left hand to control games than right hand. Providing WASD support out of the box means less frustration to players and hopefully that is one less "straw" on the camels back.
How does this affect arrow key players though? Well, see, this is what gets me about Yanfly...I have no clue why they didn't either A: provide an option in the plugin setting to just set what the default config is, or B: just make the "default config" to WASD because...the "WASD map" allows players to use both arrow keys AND WASD - the best of both worlds. WASD map does move a couple keys around, but it is likely easier for arrow key players to adjust to those small changes rather than getting used to using an entirely different movement control scheme.

In general, we'd call this "accessibility", and accessibility just means how accessible your game is to your players. Control schemes may seem small, but each lacking accessibility option is just 1 more nail in a coffin on your game, so let's not bury the casket with the baby

(I also feel like RPG Maker games tend to really, REALLY lack accessibility options, which may hurt your game and the reputation of RPG Maker as a whole.)

    Accessibility screen shots:
SpoilerLimited accessibility to players, sad default option.

Pre-configured for maximum accessibility for both preferred control schemes, Chad alternate option.

(Font colors not withstanding, UI is under construction)

Judging by those pictures, I'd say there is no excuse not to set the WASD option as the default option.

So, I hope this helped someone!
