DIY series: Custom menu pt.1 - base

Another part of Poryg's DIY series, this time it's designing your own custom menu from scratch!
Well, almost from scratch. You still have to use the MV structure or else it won't work.
The first part is dedicated to building the base with more menu videos to come. An absolute must if I want to keep it instructive
Note that this is not a 100% How to tutorial! The reason for it is, there are too many visual and technical aspects people may want and choose from. So instead I'll be choosing several aspects in hopes that you can devise a menu you want from that and from what I showed in past.

Requirements
Text editor, ability to devise things deductively and javascript knowledge is an absolute must, because we are doing actual programming, not playing with preset functions anymore.
