HOW TO
Make Custom Assets for RPG Maker
A 3 Part Series
Hi everyone! It’s Lorelei with a new tutorial series on
how to make and use your own custom assets in RPG Maker. This is for artists,
and non-artists like me, who want to make their own tilesets in RPG Maker and who aren’t quite sure how to do that – the formatting for event animations, characters, or even just making autotiles.
I learned how to do this for my game,
Aery's Elemental Odyssey (unfinished, who knows if it ever will be), and wanted to share with you all.
You don't need to be an artist to make art for your game!
I will be focusing on hand-drawn art because I feel like there’s already a lot of pixel art tutorials out there. That being said, I highly recommend using a drawing tablet for this. I’m using an intuos I bought years ago. I’m sure there are some cheap options out there.
I will also be using Adobe software for these tutorials because that’s what I’m comfortable with. If you want to use another program, just make sure it has a “Pattern” mode. That will be important for autotiles.
