Hello! I am currently trying to make a script to have something similar to the party talk system from Fear and Hunger 2 - where you press a key, and depending on some context (such as location) your party talks about things.
I plan to achieve this by making a script that checks for a key press, and once you press a key it triggers a common event. In the common event, I'll do all the checks for switches and variables and such, and implement the dialogue.
However, I'm having some trouble. I've managed to write some code, but things are going wrong. It calls the event automatically without waiting for the right key press, and once the event triggers it doesn't end. Right now the common event is just a single text box, so basically the text box appears on-screen but it can't be dismissed and nothing else works.
I am not sure what I've done wrong, as I'm very new to scripting. I'm guessing I either put it in the wrong class, or am missing something relating to common events, maybe an else with a command to make it stop. I wasn't able to find much documentation relating to triggering common events through scripts, so any help regarding that would be super useful.
