How to actually debug a mod

Long time no see. A while ago I started working on a mod for Fear and Hunger 2 Termina, but my attempt was cut short as I've encountered a very important bug that I have spent way too much time trying to solve on my own and have dropped this for the past year.

Since I haven't yet done any programming, just tweaking with existing events or variables I must have done something, that makes it impossible for my character to load in the first area right after the intro (I mean they load, but for some reason the screen when it fades to black never changes and stays black), although the menu opens just fine and i can interact with some things.

I've tried that thing that brings up all the variables running during their game and their value and that has not helped me at all. I've posted on the game's discord in hopes of some guidance, but that particular part isn't that active let alone modding playable characters in. I will add more technical details soon with pictures, I was just wondering if there's some other way to catch the mistake that I'm not familiar with as I have limited experience with the game engine and was hoping to familiarize myself by making a mod.
