Hello, a few weeks ago I was looking for how to make my combat phases more dynamic, I then looked for tutorials but I didn't find any. After several tries I think I found something not too bad so I share with you my method, I think it can help some people.
It doesn't change the gameplay but the isometric 3D adds a lot of dynamism to the fights
Note: I make my games in 1280 x 720 so the measurements I will give in this tuto will be accordingly. It's up to you to adapt it according to the resolution of your game
Here is the result, then I will show you how I proceed.
STEP 1
I create a map, in 1:1 display, I prepare my road and I screen it
STEP 2
I import it in photoshop and with CTRL + T I select it, then manually distort it to give it a depth effect
I created a layer (which I will share with you) to have the right distances, according to my characters and the road (Reminder: my game is in 1280 x 720, but I make my battleback in 1500 x 800, it's the ideal dimension I found for my elements to have the right size)
It gives me an idea of what will be visible in game, and where my characters will spawn
STEP 3
I put an image in background (this one is a pack that I bought but you can find free ones by searching)
STEP 4
In another work plan, I import my tileset and cut out my elements (trees, bushes, etc...) then I place them in the background.
STEP 5
Then I put the objects that we will see in the foreground, taking care to enlarge them compared to those in the background, to give an effect of depth
And here is the result :
I hope this tuto will be useful to you !
