Creating interesting terrain, caves and cliffs (techniques for parallax mapping)

This tutorial aims to demonstrate how small, interesting details can be added to otherwise boring outdoor or cave levels. It's only suitable for those who utilize parallax mapping and image editing software like GIMP or Photoshop. Your image editor must be capable of handling "layer masks" to accomplish these techniques.

-------TUTOTIAL--------

-------REQUIRED-------
Any image editing software that supports layer masking (e.g GIMP or Photoshop)
Any plugin for parallax mapping (e.g. GALV_LayerGraphicsMZ)

-------NOTES----------
I use GIMP, which is free, system native and awesome, but the techniques are universal to any image editing software that supports layer masking. I'm using tiles mainly from Celliana, but the techniques can be applied to any cliff textures, ground textures or foliage sprites.

If people are interested in the techniques employed, I'm happy to answer questions and perhaps dive deeper into the specifics.

-------DEMO----------
The tutorial is very quick and dirty. Just to give you a better sense of the kind of standard that can be achieved using the techniques demonstrated in this tutorial, here is a screenshot of the finished article.
