Quickly Edit Battle Sheets/Sprite Sheets using Photoshop
Recently I jumped in head first into creating the Battlesheets for my game, and in doing so I realized a few things.1. I would need a unique battler/battlesheet for EVERY weapon in my game.
and
2. Creating the same sprite sheet, over, and over, and over, with each weapon, copying and moving each unique weapon into the exact spot as the last.... Was going to take AGES.
Tonight I discovered a really awesome way around it.
Using photoshop's SMART OBJECT feature, you can quickly replace 1 weapon graphic with another, and it will replace every single copy of that weapon on the sheet. So if you have 100's of frames, ewach frame with an image of your weapon, this will save you TONS of time!
Here is a quick tutorial I threw together for those of you who may need something like this. It can be used to edit ALL KINDS of sprite sheets, not just battlers. And could be used to edit weapons, armor types, body parts and all kinds of things!
You'll need to have a copy of photoshop. Prefereably 2016-newer, and a pretty basic understanding of how to use it to edit spritesheets. There may be a way to do this using other image software, however this is the method I know.
***I MENTION YED_SIDEVIEW BATTLERS but that is not at all a requirement, this tutorial/method can be used with ANY spritesheets!***
